Assistant Athletic Director for Middle and High Schools

The Assistant Athletic Director supports the Athletic Director in overseeing operation of the

school's athletic programs. The Assistant Athletic Director will have a vital role in the day

to day operations of the athletic events on campus, maintaining athletic facilities, and

supporting and helping with whatever daily duties the Athletic Director may need help with.

The Role of the Assistant Athletic Director

  1. Works with Athletic Director to help cover home athletic events and be the athletic

admin on duty as necessary and/or needed.

  1. Works with Athletic Director to implement the athletic policies and programs of

RSS.

  1. Works with Athletic Director on communication and promoting the athletic

programs to community, schools, and parents through parent square and social

media.

  1. Works with Athletic Director with checking team rosters, Final Forms, MaxPreps,

and eligibility.

  1. Assist Athletic Director in coordinating and supervising the gates, seating, and

crowd control when asked by the Athletic Director

  1. Works with Athletic Director to assure all coaches have completed all coaching

requirements set forth by the NCHSAA and RSS before they start coaching.

  1. Works with Athletic Director to make sure all practices, games, matches, etc. are all

conducted with concern for safety of the student athletes and spectators.

  1. Understands and knows the schools EAP for the gym and all outside athletic

facilities.

  1. Understands the NCHSAA guidelines for inclement weather and heat restrictions.

10.Works with Athletic Director to make sure athletic facilities are clean and

maintained year-round.

11.Works with Athletic Director to make sure athletic facilities are clean and ready for

competition on game days.

12.Works to carry out any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director and/or

Principal.

13.Must complete required requirements for Coaches and Athletic Directors set by the

NCHSAA and RSS

First responder must:

  • Have completed and continue to maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as certified by an organization such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association

  • Have completed and continue to maintain certification in first aid as certified by an organization such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association

  • Have completed and continue to maintain training in concussion management as offered by an organization such as the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)

  • Have completed and continue to maintain continuing education in injury prevention and management as offered by an organization such as the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)

  • Complete 10 hours of staff development each school year specific to first aid, injury recognition and prevention. The 10 hours may include hours necessary for recertification/renewals

  • NOT have coaching responsibilities during the season in which the person is working as a licensed athletic trainer or first responder

  • Attend all football practices and games, unless excused by the superintendent, superintendent's designee, or county Athletic Director due to an emergency. A replacement must be in place for absences.

  • Shall keep accurate records of all injuries to student athletes

  • Shall be "on call" for any emergencies resulting in physical injury to a student that occurs in his or her assigned school

  • Outside of Football, Rowan-Salisbury Schools requires a licensed athletic trainer or first responder to attend to injuries, tape, be accessible in the afternoons, and to attend all home contests.

  • Athletic Trainers/First Responders will provide written proof/copy of N.C. Athletic Training licensure or First Responder certifications to the Principal each year.
