Position Summary
The Sponsored Projects Financial Manager (SPFM) is a key partner in the financial and administrative management of externally funded projects from proposal development to closeout. This position is responsible for - financial management of awards, provides strategic financial oversight of OIT's sponsored projects portfolio, ensures compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements, and supports principal investigators (PIs) and departments in effectively managing sponsored project resources. The position works closely with Business Affairs Office (BAO) grant accounting to prepare and monitor grant related accounting transactions. The position is responsible for the financial management of grants and sponsored projects, including ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, the rules and regulations of funding agencies, the terms and conditions of grants/awards, as well as Oregon Tech policies and procedures.
In addition, this position is responsible for preparation and submission of required financial reports and other progress and activity reports as required by sponsoring agencies. The Sponsored Projects Financial Manager (SPFM) works with BAO grant accounting to ensure that invoices are submitted in a timely fashion and that supporting documentation is accurate and properly recorded. The SPFM advises principal investigators, faculty and administrators on fiscal matters as they relate to grants and contracts; performing various analysis, developing special reports, as needed, and providing faculty training on grant budget development and management. The SPFM maintains accurate and complete financial and administrative documentation for sponsored projects and serves as a resource for accurate and complete information on grants and contracts cost preparation and post award administrative and financial support to principal investigators, project directors and sponsors.
The position reports to the Director for Sponsored Projects and Grants Administration, while working collaboratively to manage the cost preparation and post-award administration and management of grants. The position will also work collaboratively with the University Development Office and the university Foundation to assist in development-funded projects.
Through collaboration with the Assistant Director of the Business Affairs Office (BAO), the SPFM ensures all grants/projects are set up in the University financial system according to the sponsor-approved budget guidelines, cost sharing companion accounts are established to segregate expenditures and that grant close-outs are performed in accordance with written University procedures. The SPFM also maintains fiscal records and reports required for cost sharing to sponsors.
This position will be located onsite at one of Oregon Tech's campuses. Campus location is negotiable between Portland-Metro (Wilsonville, OR) and Klamath Falls.
