    SPEECH LANGUAGE SPECIALIST REPORTS

    TO:

    Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services SALARY GRADE:

    As

    per

    negotiated

    NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: The Speech Language Specialist is responsible for providing evaluative and rehabilitative services for students

    handicapped

    by

    impairments

    of

    speech. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Holds

    NJ

    Speech

    Language

    Specialist

    certification

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Provides

    screening

    activities

    to

    determine

    communication

    disorders

    in

    students.

    Serves

    as

    a

    member

    of

    the

    extended

    Child

    Study

    Team

    which

    indicated

    to

    provide

    assistance

    in

    the

    evaluation

    process

    for

    the

    classification

    and/or

    special

    placement

    of

    students.

    Provides

    speech

    correction

    to

    students

    on

    individual

    or

    small

    group

    basis.

    Consults

    with

    other

    staff

    and

    parents

    regarding

    language

    development

    of

    students.

    Provides

    in-service

    training

    for

    teachers

    on

    communication's

    remediation

    techniques

    and

    procedures.

    Performs

    other

    duties

    which

    may

    be

    assigned

    by

    his/her

    superior(s)

    under

    authority

    of

    the

    Board

    of

    Education.

    necessary.

    This

    position

    requires

    the

    ability

    to

    occasionally

    lift

    office

    products

    and

    supplies,

    up

    to

    20

    pounds.
