Job Overview – Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based)
Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000/year
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (School Hours)

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Speech-Language Pathologist (School-Based) in New York, NY for our client, supporting speech-language therapy, augmentative communication, feeding interventions, and individualized education plans for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This opportunity will work closely with educators, therapists, families, and healthcare providers to help students improve communication, participation, independence, and educational success. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, a collaborative approach, and an interest in working with children and adolescents with complex communication needs.

Responsibilities as the Speech-Language Pathologist:
  • Therapy Services: Provide speech-language therapy services in accordance with individualized education plans, treatment goals, and student needs.
  • Evaluation & Assessment: Conduct speech, language, communication, feeding, and swallowing assessments to develop treatment recommendations and therapeutic goals.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans addressing communication, oral motor, feeding, language, and social communication needs.
  • AAC Support: Assess, implement, and support augmentative and alternative communication systems, assistive technology, and communication devices.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with teachers, families, therapists, administrators, and healthcare professionals to coordinate services and support student progress.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, evaluations, and IEP-related records while ensuring compliance with educational and clinical requirements.

Qualifications for the Speech-Language Pathologist:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field is required.
  • Licensure: Active New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license and registration are required.
  • Certification: TSHH or TSSLD certification is required, and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is preferred.
  • Experience: Experience working with children in pediatric, school-based, developmental disability, autism, or special education settings is preferred, and new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of AAC systems, assistive technology, feeding and swallowing interventions, speech motor disorders, and individualized education plans is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team are required.
