    About the Opportunity

    Search Station is recruiting on behalf of a confidential client, a skilled long-term care facility in Manteca, California seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join their Rehabilitation department. This role provides and directs all aspects of quality patient care including evaluation, treatment, treatment planning, goal setting, family education, and documentation. The SLP serves as a patient and rehabilitation advocate for current and prospective patients, working closely with the interdisciplinary rehab team, and reports to the Facility Rehab Director.

    Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program
    • Ability to practice unencumbered — active license in good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards
    • Working knowledge of Medicare and other payment sources
    • Full knowledge of resident rights
    • CPR Certification
    • Long-term care experience preferred
    • Accurate knowledge of MDS Section K (Swallowing/Nutritional Status) items
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Knowledge of NetHealth and PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
    • Strong verbal and written English communication skills

    Scope of Work

    • Direct and supervise the work of assistants and students in accordance with State and Federal guidelines
    • Initiate evaluations per physician orders and payer authorization/guidelines
    • Develop and provide treatment plans consistent with benefit and reimbursement levels for optimal functional outcomes
    • Complete timely documentation including evaluations, daily progress notes, summaries, and monthly reports
    • Educate staff, other healthcare professionals, and third-party payers on treatment benefits and functional outcomes
    • Support and participate in outpatient department operations and development
    • Achieve quality patient care through interdisciplinary co-treatment, protocols, and programs
    • Attend continuing education seminars and provide in-service training to enhance clinical and professional knowledge
    • Submit billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner
    • Make appropriate referrals to other rehab team members
    • Meet or exceed productivity standard of 87% and group therapy standards

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
    • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance, according to patient's abilities
    • Ability to sit and walk for extended periods of time
    • Ability to travel to assigned locations within a reasonable time frame
    • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, and pull as needed in fulfilling resident care needs
    • Must meet general health requirements including a physical examination

    Good to Know

    • This role includes mandated reporter responsibilities regarding suspected elder abuse and access to Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA
    • Environment involves inside work in a 24-hour skilled care setting serving disabled and cognitively impaired residents
    • Both experienced SLPs and those newer to long-term care may be considered — LTC experience is preferred, not required
    • Direct supervisory role over assistants and students included in scope
