    Summary:

    The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides direct therapy and consultation services to students identified with disabilities in articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, and/or voice disorders. The SLP conducts special education evaluations with other team members to identify eligible students.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conducts screenings, evaluations and writes reports for students referred for special education to assist in determining eligibility for special education.
    • Leads team in the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable goals and facilitates these IEP meetings.
    • Facilitates process for obtaining and implementing use of assistive technology (AAC) devices, and creates materials for students' devices.
    • Delivers direct and consultative school speech and language therapy as specified in students' IEPs.
    • Completes special education documentation regarding students' therapy, as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. This includes daily progress notes, progress reports and monthly Medicaid billing.
    • Assists school staff in developing and implementing accommodations to allow students with speech and language disabilities to be successful within the school setting.
    • Supports districts' MTSS-A, MTSS-B and trauma-informed practices.
    • Attends team meetings such as SST and special education team meetings to discuss individual students.

    Qualifications:

    • Current Speech-Language Pathology Licensure in Michigan with ASHA certification.
    • Working knowledge of the principles, practices and ethical standards of Speech and Language Pathologists, as well as relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
    • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
    • Ability to balance multiple demands and prioritize activities to meet deadlines.

    School Year

    Working at Roosevelt/Quincy Elementary Schools.

    Temporary position. This position will be .60 FTE to cover a maternity leave from 8/31/26 - 11/23/26.
