Summary:

The Speech and Language Pathologist serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team to support the identification and treatment of students suspected of having speech and/or language impairments. This role includes providing consultation as well as direct services to address students' educational communication needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Speech Language Pathologist shall have duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct screening, evaluation, and diagnosis of speech and language disorders in students ages 0-3.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate therapy and intervention strategies aligned with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform instructional decisions and measure student progress.
  • Provide consultation and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including educators, service providers, and families.
  • Serve as an IFSP team facilitator, coordinating speech-language therapy and related special education services.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements related to IFSP development, implementation, and documentation.
  • Provide professional development and training to teachers, parents, and ancillary staff as needed.
  • Participate in professional committees and contribute to program development and continuous improvement efforts.

While performing the duties of this job, the Speech Language Pathologist must be able to do the following:

  • May be required to grasp, push, reach, or stoop/kneel/crouch.
  • Acute vision required or correction including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 20 pounds, rarely up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to drive vehicle to and from local district and within the three counties
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movements to work on computer and/or related office
  • Presence on the job is an employee's fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
  • Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace through their employment in the district.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Must hold a valid State of Michigan LARA Speech-Language Pathologist license.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) applicants will be considered.
  • Early On/Early Childhood experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in Early On/early childhood services, with a focus on early intervention (e.g., family coaching, communication development, feeding, social-emotional development).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned locations.
  • Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background check.

Salary Range: The salary will be commensurate with education and demonstrated experience of the successful candidate to fulfill the requirements of the position as determined by administration.
