General Description:
We are seeking a unique and dynamic Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our team, working with students ages 3-9 in Lakeland Consortium Schools (AVW, LDF, MHLT, NLES). This fully immersed SLPA role will involve working directly within the classroom environment, collaborating closely with the primary speech therapist at the elementary school. The ideal candidate will be passionate about screening, evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders, which may include challenges with articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, receptive and expressive language, pragmatics, cognitive aspects of communication, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
A key aspect of this position is the integration of speech and language strategies into the classroom setting. The immersive SLPA will serve as a liaison between Lakeland STAR and the elementary schools in the consortium, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the teams. This position requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with educators, therapists, and other professionals to develop an immersion role in the classrooms. The immersive SLPA may co-teach a social skills class with the regular and/or special education teacher.

Experience and Qualifications:
Speech & Language Pathology Assistant Certificate or the ability to obtain the certificate. Previous experience working with school aged students and students on the Autism spectrum is preferred.
