    Description

    Primary Purpose

    Provide instructional, behavioral, and organizational support to students assigned to the PASS setting and assist campus staff in maintaining a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment. Support student success by reinforcing behavioral expectations, monitoring student progress, assisting with assigned academic work, and helping students develop positive school behaviors and self-management skills.

    Qualifications

    Education/Certification

    High school diploma or GED

    Educational aide certification requirements as required by the State of Texas

    Ability to meet district training requirements

    Special Knowledge/Skills

    Ability to work well with students with behavioral, emotional, and academic needs

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

    Ability to manage student behavior in a calm, consistent, and professional manner

    Knowledge of basic classroom management strategies

    Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents

    Basic computer skills

    Experience

    Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

    Experience supporting behavior interventions preferred

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Student Support

    • Supervise students assigned to the PASS setting throughout the school day or designated periods

    • Monitor student behavior and reinforce campus expectations, routines, and procedures

    • Assist students with completing class assignments provided by teachers

    • Encourage students to stay on task and make productive use of their time

    • Provide redirection and support using approved behavior management strategies

    • Help students reflect on behavior choices and develop improved decision-making skills

    • Support students in transitioning back to the classroom setting when appropriate

    Behavior and Campus Support

    • Maintain a structured, safe, and orderly PASS environment

    • Document student attendance, behavior, interventions, and completion of assignments as required by the campus

    • Communicate student concerns, progress, and behavior patterns to the principal, counselor, teacher, or other assigned staff

    • Assist with behavior intervention plans and campus behavior systems as directed

    • Support de-escalation efforts using district-approved practices

    • Assist in supervising students during transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, or other assigned times as needed

    Instructional Support

    • Collect assignments from teachers and ensure students have access to needed materials

    • Provide support with reading directions, clarifying assignments, and helping students organize work

    • Monitor and encourage completion of academic tasks in all subject areas

    • Return completed work and communicate progress to classroom teachers

    • Assist with basic academic support under the direction of certified staff

    Clerical and Organizational Duties

    • Maintain accurate records and logs required for the PASS program

    • Prepare and organize instructional materials as needed

    • Assist with filing, copying, and other campus support tasks related to student services

    • Participate in campus meetings and staff development as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    None.

    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

    Tools/Equipment Used - Standard office equipment including computer, printer, copier, and phone

    Posture - Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting

    Motion - Frequent movement throughout the classroom and campus, May require assisting with student transitions and monitoring multiple areas

    Lifting - Light lifting and carrying of instructional materials and supplies

    Environment - Work inside the school building and occasionally outside for duty assignments, May work with students exhibiting behavioral challenges

    Mental Demands - Maintain emotional control under stress, Work with frequent interruptions, Ability to manage student behaviors calmly and consistently

    Additional Duties

    Perform other duties as assigned by the administration in support of campus operations and student success
