Why This Role Matters
As a Specimen Processing Technician (SPT I), you play a critical role in ensuring lab specimens are processed accurately and efficiently, directly impacting test results and patient outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Perform specimen processing tasks including presort, A-station, centrifugation, and aliquoting
- Handle pickup, delivery, and preparation of specimens for laboratory testing
- Accurately enter data (target of 6,000 keystrokes/hour)
- Support imaging and microfilming processes
- Follow strict compliance, safety, and biohazard protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace while meeting productivity standards
- Adapt to daily changes in testing requirements and workflow needs
What We're Looking For

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong data entry and computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing processes and requirements
- Prior lab, medical, or production experience preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology or specimen handling is a plus
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to meet compliance requirements
