    • Monday–Friday 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
    • Rotating Saturday 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM
    • Weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required

Job Summary
The Specimen Technician (SPT I) provides general support within the Specimen Processing Department, performing a variety of production-focused laboratory support functions. This role requires a strong data entry background, attention to detail, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a high-volume, biohazard environment while meeting strict quality and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen processing support functions including A-station, presort, pickup and delivery, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
  • Ensure all work is completed with accuracy, confidence, and timeliness.
  • Enter data at a rate of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
  • Learn and understand specimen types related to client-ordered tests.
  • Maintain compliance with test-ordering regulations, which may change frequently.
  • Work in a production environment with a strong emphasis on productivity and quality standards.
  • Practice proper biohazard safety procedures at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with staff at all organizational levels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to daily operational changes.
  • Adhere to all core values, safety, and compliance policies.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of computer systems.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing.
  • Medical background, including clinical laboratory terminology.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory, hospital, or production environment.
