JOB TITLE: SPECIALIST STUDENT SUCCESS PAY GRADE: PRF 4 DUTY DAYS: 226 FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT DATE REVISED: 11/14/2025 HC FUNDING SOURCE: THIS POSITION IS PARTIALLY OR FULLY FUNDED THROUGH LOCAL AND/OR GRANT SOURCES. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IN GRANT-FUNDED POSITIONS IS CONTINGENT UPON AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A Master's degree is preferred. Three (3) years of successful teaching experience and/or a minimum of three (3) years of counseling and/or social work in an urban school setting with a diverse student population is preferred. Experience working in an urban school setting with a diverse student population. Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred. SKILL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to work with students, families, and staff of all ages, backgrounds, and communities. Incumbents must have excellent written and oral communication skills in order to communicate with administrators, teachers, students, and parents. This position requires the ability to implement research-based systems of support and intervention strategies at both the District and campus levels. Incumbent must be able to work collaboratively with groups of parents, teachers, and students. This position requires the ability to analyze and synthesize information and document all services in the District's data-monitoring system. Incumbent must have knowledge and skill in the use of personal computers and their software. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and in other computerized applications is required. Employees in this position must be able to read, write, and speak/communicate in English in order to receive and provide work related information in a timely manner to other employees, administrators, and staff. The incumbent must have an understanding of student transcripts. JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY: The primary role of the Student Success Specialist is to identify and assist students and families in overcoming barriers that interfere with regular attendance. Under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor of Student Success, this position provides support to students, families, teachers, and campus administration of a cohort of schools. This position is responsible for pulling and analyzing data collected to provide both prompt reflection/support and constructive feedback to campus personnel. This position may provide professional development and support for campuses to organize and maintain support teams; organize support systems; provide support for teachers; organize effective individual student intervention strategies in attendance, dropout prevention and retention. Incumbent must be knowledgeable about the support services that are available and be able to communicate them. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist
in
the
coordination
of
attendance
systems
that
align
with
consistent
standards
and
best
practices
to
ensure campuses equitably support the needs of students.
Track
attendance,
dropout,
service
interventions,
and
other
data
from
the
campuses
in
the
Vertical
Team
and
other documentation kept in the eCST system.
Identify
families
with
highest
attendance
needs
and
provide
interventions
and
support.
Build
a
positive
relationship
with
the
family
based
on
attendance
data,
identify
students
to
contact
to
determine attendance barriers.

Attend
appropriate

knowledge

skills.
Conduct
home
visits
to
connect
with
students
and
families
about
attendance
concerns.
Review
truancy
filing
prior
to
submission
to
court
to
ensure
all
appropriate
interventions
have
been
conducted.
Design
and
facilitate
professional
learning
at
the
District
and
campus
levels
that
increases
effectiveness
and
improves performance. Participate in professional learning increases effectiveness and improves District performance.
Implement
coaching
strategies
effectively
using
the
District's
coaching
model.
Organize,
analyze,
and
disaggregate
District
and
campus
data
to
identify
priorities,
set
performance
goals,
and
monitor progress.
Use
District
data
to
make
informed
decisions
regarding
the
focus
and
content
of
professional
development.
Research,
write,
and
analyze
reports
as
needed.
Represent
and
support
the
District's
strategic
plan,
instructional
philosophy,
frameworks,
and
curriculum
in
all
aspects.
Collaborate
with
other
District
personnel
as
assigned
to
align
efforts
to
achieve
District
goals.
Serve
on
District
committees
as
assigned.
Provide
an
exceptional
customer
experience
for
all
AISD
stakeholders
with
intentional
and
professional
practices
that promote a culture of respect. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED : Perform other related duties as assigned.
