A hands-on Shopfloor IT professional with strong experience supporting manufacturing operations, particularly in automotive environments. The ideal candidate excels in troubleshooting both software and hardware issues, managing service tickets, and ensuring seamless operation of production systems. They are adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The Specialist, Shopfloor IT Operations is responsible for supporting and maintaining IT systems across the manufacturing shopfloor. This role focuses on system monitoring, troubleshooting, and Tier-1 support for production-critical systems such as MES, SCADA, and torque data systems. The position ensures uninterrupted production operations by managing service tickets, supporting hardware/software systems, and collaborating across functions.
Key Responsibilities
Shopfloor IT Systems Support
  • Monitor, configure, and troubleshoot shopfloor systems including MES, SCADA, and torque/screw data systems
  • Ensure system availability, integrity, and performance across production lines
  • Support Edge computing and manufacturing IT environments
Hardware & Infrastructure Support
  • Configure and troubleshoot shopfloor hardware such as:
    • Worker guidance stations
    • Andon boards
    • Printers and labeling systems
    • Handheld devices
  • Maintain and support printer/label services across production
Service & Incident Management
  • Manage and resolve service tickets (Tier-1 support)
  • Develop and implement shopfloor IT support concepts
  • Provide support across all production shifts to ensure uptime
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct audits and generate operational reports
  • Identify process improvements and system optimization opportunities
  • Support implementation of IT solutions to enhance manufacturing efficiency
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and IT teams
  • Ensure seamless communication between shopfloor and enterprise systems
  • Support project initiatives and system rollouts
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing/shopfloor IT environments
  • Strong experience with MES, SCADA, or torque data management systems
  • Experience in production troubleshooting (software & hardware)
  • Basic knowledge of automation systems / PLCs / industrial interfaces
  • Experience with databases, programming, or communication protocols
  • Project management experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing (OEM or Tier-1)
  • Knowledge of Edge computing and shopfloor IT architecture
  • Familiarity with AI, Big Data, or ITIL frameworks
  • Exposure to robots, sensors, and torque systems
  • Experience in process optimization and digital transformation initiatives
