    Our Opportunity: Charles Schwab Trust Bank, part of Retirement Business Services, provides trust and custody services for qualified retirement plans, primarily 401(k) plans. As a member of the Ops Control department's Reconciliation and Reporting team, you will perform detailed reconciliations, research complex trading and distribution-related activity, and contribute to a collaborative, risk-focused team environment.

    What you'll do: The Operations Specialist will use multiple applications to reconcile trading and distribution-related activity across various trading platforms and banking vendors. Responsibilities include documenting issues clearly and concisely, maintaining accurate procedures, and cross-training with peers to build broad functional knowledge. The ideal candidate will have experience with bank or trading reconciliations, the ability to quickly learn new functions and support coworkers, and a proven track record of completing work with a strong emphasis on accuracy and risk mitigation. This role also requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment while providing exemplary service to internal Client Service Managers and business partners.

    • Perform reconciliation functions with a high degree of accuracy, including in-depth research on breaks and identification of true root causes for outages. • Escalate issues to leadership as appropriate to help mitigate risk, including communicating team trends, process risks, and emerging concerns. • Maintain timely, detailed, and accurate procedures for assigned functions. • Collaborate effectively with team members and subject matter experts across business areas to resolve issues, answer questions, and communicate potential impacts. • Participate effectively in projects by taking ownership of assigned tasks, meeting deadlines, and following through on information requests and action items with minimal follow-up. • Perform peer reviews to support accuracy, quality, and situational awareness of emerging issues in related functions. • Support a strong control environment by ensuring reconciliation activities, issue documentation, procedures, and follow-up actions are complete, accurate, and audit-ready. • Provide clear and timely updates to leadership, internal partners, and impacted teams regarding reconciliation issues, aging items, trends, and potential business impacts. • Identify and recommend process improvements after gaining proficiency in reconciliation functions. • Train team members on assigned functions, including explaining the purpose and reasoning behind key process steps. • Conduct effective user acceptance testing for systems used in daily functions. • Track and report statistics accurately while ensuring deadlines are met.

    What you have

    • College degree or equivalent banking and/or trust experience required. • 2+ years of brokerage, transfer agent, bank, or trust operations experience required. Classification: Schwab Internal • 2+ years of risk and analysis experience preferred. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team. • Strong ability to prioritize daily responsibilities while managing multiple deadlines and high volumes of work. • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, research, and communication skills. • Strong sense of ownership for assigned functions and willingness to research complex issues. • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
