Job Summary

Assist students and others as they navigate the financial aid process, in-person, email, and by phone. Provide verbal and written responses to questions about the application, processing, aid offers, and relevant policies. Review and process incoming documents. Work reports. Collect and compile data on in-person contacts. Work in evenings without direct supervision.

Hours for this position are Monday Thursday 9:30 am 6:00 pm. Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Work with students in-person and via email to assist in the completion and processing of financial aid applications.
  • This may include helping complete forms and applications, answering questions, providing information, resolving problems, and other related tasks.
  • Work in evenings without direct supervision.
  • Review and process incoming documents.
  • Work reports.
  • Collect and compile data on in-person contacts.
  • Knowledge of Title IV financial aid.
  • Knowledge of Banner computer system preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
  • Knowledge of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and experience (customer service, listening, writing, assisting).
  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Data input experience.
  • Adaptable to frequent change.
  • Function in high stress environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Zero (0) - Three (3) years paid, full-time experience in financial aid and/or customer service.

Education and relevant experience may be substituted when the minimum qualification does not require a specific degree, license, certification, accreditation standard, or other requirement for which substitution would be inappropriate.

Trade off 1:1 full-time experience/education requirement. Part-time experience can be considered on a prorated basis (Trade off 2:1)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and or knowledge of Financial Aid.
  • Experience with Banner.
  • Must have excellent work attendance.
  • Nine (9) - twelve (12) months or more of Customer Service experience.
