Bachelor's degree
Master's degree preferred
Texas valid teacher certification
ESL certification (Reading Language Arts only)

Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of all elementary curriculum areas
Specific knowledge of assigned content area(s) and state assessments
Specific knowledge of assessment, lesson design, and delivery
General knowledge of professional learning communities
Detailed knowledge of data disaggregation to drive instruction

Required Experience:
At least five years of successful teaching experience
Experience in development, preparation, and presentation of professional development preferred
Experience in facilitation of professional learning communities preferred
Job Duties:
Serve as a content specialist to assist in the development and implementation of district instructional initiatives
Work with appropriate district personnel to design and provide professional development focused on improving alignment and delivery of the written, taught and tested curriculum to increase student success and close performance gaps.
Work with teachers and campus administration to analyze student data, diagnose instructional needs and identify research-based instructional strategies to close achievements gaps.
Work with the content coordinator/director and the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning to develop and continuously improve district curriculum documents.
Provide job-embedded professional development for teachers through modeling engaging, standards-based teaching, as needed
Collaborate with content director, content coordinator, campus administration, and teachers to review and develop aligned curriculum components including assessments.
Provide individual and/or group instructional coaching and mentoring to teachers to improve classroom instruction for all learners
Conduct teacher observations and/or walk-throughs and provide feedback that facilitates teacher reflection and growth
Work with appropriate district personnel, campus administration, and teachers in planning standards-based lessons and assessments aligned to the district curriculum
Manage and distribute instructional resources to teachers and provide training on the use of those resources
Encourage and support the implementation of technology and innovative strategies in the classroom
Other duties as assigned
Administrative Support:
Attend district level training and provide campus level professional development in district initiatives
Provide ongoing feedback to campus administration to be used as a means to improve instructional delivery
Work with the content director, content coordinator, and all curriculum department personnel to ensure the vertical alignment of curriculum and integration of other content, areas as needed
Assist with the implementation and monitoring of district initiatives
Attend department and district meetings/trainings as assigned
