    Job Description Summary

    We have an opening for a Specialist, Business Development, Investment Funds & Private Capital.

    The Specialist, Business Development plays a key role in advancing Paul Hastings’ business development and marketing initiatives for the Investment Funds & Private Capital practice group and other corporate practice areas.

    Working closely with Associate Director, Business Development, attorneys and global business development team members, this role focuses on producing high-quality pitches and RFP responses. The position also supports strategic marketing and profile-raising activities such as awards and directory submissions; events, conferences and memberships; research and other marketing and business development initiatives that strengthen the firm’s position as a market leader.

     

     

    Job Description

    In this capacity, the Specialist, Business Development will:

    Pitches, RFPs & Marketing Collaterals

    • Work with attorneys and business development team members to draft and produce high-quality pitches, proposals and RFP responses;
    • Track deal and pitch flow and log experience; and
    • Develop and maintain marketing materials, including ongoing and proactive maintenance of slide library, practice descriptions, website content, attorney biographies and experience lists.

    Profile-Raising

    • Project manage and draft submissions for legal and industry directories, awards and rankings;
    • Work with team members on media relations, editorial projects, design and digital marketing initiatives;
    • Collaborate with the events team and attorneys to plan and execute client events. Maintain key contact mailing lists; and
    • Assist with the management of key industry sponsorships and partnerships, ensuring the firm maximizes benefits and return on investment.

    Research, Cross-Selling & Client Development

    • Conduct research on clients, prospects and competitors to support meetings and cross-selling opportunities;
    • Build knowledge of Firm practice areas to effectively support marketing strategies; and
    • Stay current on industry and client news, and proactively flag relevant developments to the BD and attorney teams.

    Operations & Administration

    • Maintain the team’s activity tracker and identify ways to streamline team processes;
    • Track and analyze budgets to inform and support spend decisions;
    • Proactively organize team folders and databases; and
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Proficiencies:

    • Foundational understanding of investment funds and asset management industry is a plus. A genuine interest in the space and eagerness to learn is essential;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail and proofreading;
    • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new tools as needed;
    • Understanding of how business development and marketing support attorneys and client relationships in a law firm setting;
    • Working knowledge of marketing principles and how they apply in a professional services context; and
    • Experience with CRM and matter-management systems

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required; coursework or degree emphasis in marketing, business or communications preferred; and
    • At least 5 years of professional experience preferred, ideally within a law firm, asset manager, professional services or financial services environment.
    The salary wage range for New York that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $91,000 and a maximum of $116,000 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.

    The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
