The Advanced Programs area is seeking a chief engineer for the Special Programs A1 Portfolio. The candidate will report to the Portfolio A Chief Engineer and be responsible for program execution of contract and IRAD activities and Mission Success for the portfolio. The candidate shall have a proven ability to lead technical efforts with a cross-functional team comprised of all Engineering disciplines. The candidate requires excellent leadership skills and demonstration of all the tenants of Full Spectrum Leadership. Candidate must possess experience and initiative to ensure technical leadership and support is provided for the development process. The candidate will interface with Engineering Excellence management to ensure program is appropriately staffed to successfully complete milestones. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the LOB Chief Engineer staff to provide status of ongoing work and pursuits, and ensure synergy across tasks and successful transition of technologies and programs. The successful candidate will also be required to support technical reviews internally, with the customer and external stakeholders, and at supplier locations. The candidate will also work closely with Strategy and Business development to ensure alignment between SP investment and pursuits and the transition LOB.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Providing technical leadership that enables the team to meet and demonstrate all milestones on schedule
• Developing a productive partnership and trusting relationship with USG customers
• Shaping strategy
• Guiding Engineering team, IPT leads and cross-functional teams in program planning, scheduling, trade studies, design concepts, verification, and critical life cycle reviews
• Ensuring program staffing is appropriate from an E&T perspective
• Collaborating with Engineering Excellence management to ensure program milestones are successfully completed
• Supporting and leading program technical reviews and participating in monthly E&T meetings, staff meetings, and other critical program activities
• Communicating lessons learned and ensuring synergy across tasks with the entire Chief Engineer staff

Accountable for all aspects of engineering and technology activities within a program, program area, or line of business to ensure mission milestones and business objectives are met. Serves as the primary technical authority / technical interface with internal program management and external customers. Ensures proposals have sound technical solutions and schedules and drive affordability. Leads a technical team of cross functional engineers to ensure successful proper system/product development and execution. Evaluates and ensures complex issues are resolved in a cost effective, innovative way. Champion mission success and drive a mission success culture. Directs a team into exploration of new problem solution areas with novel concepts and approaches, guiding scope definition and prioritizing problems for investigation. Determine appropriate risk posture and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects. Ensure selected designs are robust and include appropriate margins to facilitate safety, performance, producibility and operational availability/supportability. Ensures program plans and technical baselines are consistent with Program Control processes and Modern Engineering Practices. Responsible for key decision making that impact businesses, the failure to achieve the objectives result in critical impact of program capabilities. Ensures identification of lessons learned, and corrective action are initiated and implemented to improve future and ongoing programs. Provides technical mentoring and career development support of team and allocates resources effectively. Leads and directs the technical execution efforts of the program or LOB.

Basic Qualifications

• Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, with existing professional experience
• Experience in planning and leading technical solutions from proposal through all aspects of development. This includes SRR, PDR, CDR, Qualification, System Verification & Test, FCA and transition to production.
• Experience and demonstrated skillset with Sensor systems design and development
• Must possess ability to plan and lead the technical teams/efforts associated with Complex Sensor Systems
• Candidate will be required to communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to USG customers
• Must be available for occasional domestic and international travel
• Candidate must have a Secret clearance and be able to obtain Top Secret, SCI and program level clearance

Desired Skills

• An advanced degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is desired
• Prior experience at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is highly desired
• Candidate should have wide experience/familiarity in collaborating with the Engineering & Technology functional organization
• Ability to interface with the USG Customer office and global supply base
• Ability to support technical reviews internally, with the customer, and external stakeholders, and at supplier locations
• Experience in leading Failure Analysis and Failure Review Boards

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
