Purpose Transporting special needs students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions. Ensuring vehicle is in safe operating condition. Ensuring safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from buses.
Responsibilities • Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior. • Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents, and/or potential emergency situations. • Assists Bus Assistant, students, and other passengers. • Attends meetings, trainings, etc. • Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior. • Conducts emergency evacuation drills. • Drives school buses. • Fuels assigned vehicle, e.g., oil, water, fuel, etc. • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc. • Prepares documents and reports, e.g., field trip reports, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, MIPS forms, etc. • Reports observations and/or incidents, e.g., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, health, etc. • Responds to inquiries, e.g., students, parents, other school personnel, etc. • Supervises students and other passengers during transit. • Assists other personnel as may be required.
Experience Full-time position with benefits, 25-40 hours per week. Hourly rate: $19.40 per hour, depending on experience.
Certification The District trains new bus drivers.
