Qualifications:
- Must hold special education teaching certificate
- Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher status requirements
- Experience with learning and behavior disabilities.
- Ability to facilitate, assign and organize paraprofessionals
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned to student needs
- Facilitate IEP meetings with families in a supportive, collaborative manner
- Partner closely with general education teachers to support student success across settings
- Provide a balance of push-in and pull-out services based on individual student goals
- Monitor and track student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instruction as needed
- Support student behavior through positive strategies, de-escalation techniques, and proactive interventions
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Communicate regularly with families to celebrate growth and problem-solve together
- Participate in bi-weekly Special Education team meetings focused on collaboration and support
- Use data to inform instruction and ensure meaningful student growth
- Create a safe, inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported
- Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., SLP, social worker, OT) to meet the whole child's needs
- Support additional building needs (e.g., recess supervision) as part of the school team
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, and school initiatives
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented school culture focused on student success
