    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    We are seeking an experienced special education classroom teacher for our Stepping Stones program. The special education teacher will be responsible to service students in grades 1- 3 who consistently display behavioral or emotional/social challenges in a full day substantially separate classroom and also in the inclusion setting.

    • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of program design, curriculum and instruction, and behavior management
    • Plan effective instructional strategies for adapting or modifying general curriculum to meet the various needs of individual students
    • Conduct academic assessments/evaluations of student abilities and needs and serves as a member of IEP meetings
    • Collect and analyze student performance data to determine the extent to which student IEP goals and objectives are being met
    • Assist students with both academic and social/emotional goals as stated in Individualized Education Plans
    • Assist, support and work in collaboration with school psychologist, district BCBA, administration, and all other related service providers in the development, implementation and revision of student behavior plans
    • Implement Behavioral and Functional Assessments for students
    • Instruct and direct assigned educational assistant(s) to maximize delivery of instructional services, behavior management and data collection techniques
    • Act as a liaison between home and school
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with educational assistants, teachers, administration, and parents
    • Maintain integrity of confidential information regarding students
    • Understanding and familiarity with Special Education process and regulations
    • Other duties as assigned by building administrators
