Special Education Teacher – High School
Location: Stafford Springs, CT
Position: Full-Time
Level: High School
Tenure: ASAP through the end of the 2026–2027 school year
We are seeking a
High School Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and academic support while helping students develop the skills needed for success in school, work, and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver instruction aligned with individual IEP goals.
- Provide academic, behavioral, and organizational support to students.
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate IEP-related documentation.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate on student goals and services.
- Work closely with general education teachers and related service providers.
- Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and transition skills.
- Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with families and members of the educational team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Valid Connecticut Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and instructional modifications.
- Commitment to supporting students academically, socially, and in preparation for post-secondary goals.
