MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Washington State teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
• Bachelor's degree with specialization in Special Education; Master's preferred
• Thorough knowledge of applicable Washington State and Federal rules and regulations
• Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Ability to evaluate and write IEP's and familiarity with inclusion/mainstreaming essential
• Knowledge of Washington State education trends and the use of technology in the classroom
• Experience working with students with social, emotional and behavioral challenges
• Ability to provide a highly structured learning environment and work with a team
• Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and positive attitude required

GENERAL INFORMATION: This is a pool posting for Special Education positions that are currently or may become available for the 2026 -2027 school year. As part of a Professional Learning Community team, the Special Education teacher provides instruction to special needs students in Resource Room, Life Skills, and Choices settings , develops and implements IEP's , supervises paraeducators, and is responsible for case management ensuring school success.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The 2026-2027 salary schedule is currently unavailable. For the 2025- 2026 school year, a 1.0 FTE certificated contract includes a 183-day work year; supplemental pay (after meeting district requirements); 12 sick leave days and 3 annual leave d ays. Salary placement is based on the State Salary Schedule, which for the 2025 -2026 school year ranges from $72,698 (BA degree with no experience) to $138,249 (MA degree + 90 credits and 16 years of experience). For those electing Healthcare coverage thro ugh SEBB, a portion of the monthly premium is offset by an employer contribution. Mandatory dental, vision, basic long -term disability, and basic life and accidental death and dismemberment premiums are paid by the district. Employee paid options include: Flexible Spending Arrangement; Dependent Care Assistance Program; and additional long -term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance. If employed less than full time (1.0 FTE), days, salary, and health premiums are pro-rated based on FTE.
