Position Details

POSITION TITLE: Full Time Special Education Teacher

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a special education teacher at Perry Public Schools, working primarily with middle school aged students. Preferred knowledge around use of MTSS in the context of special education services. Provide a caring, well-organized environment in which special education students can fully access the curriculum and available resources. Collaborates with general education teachers, collecting and analyzing data to make instructional and behavioral decisions around supports, accommodations and individualized instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a valid Special Education Certificate K-12 endorsed
• Must possess a valid Michigan Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate
• CPI certification current-preferred
• Knowledge of and/or experience with MTSS and Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS)
• Experience with ASD and EI students preferred
• Experience working with children with disabilities within a self-contained classroom setting
• Experience with academic and behavioral interventions
• Experience in making modifications to the general education curriculum preferred
• Experience in supporting and guiding Instructional Assistants preferred
• Highly Organized and Motivated
• Effective communication skills in working with students, staff and parents
• Experience with collaboration with teachers
• Experience with scheduling to meet students' needs and special education time

SALARY: Per Perry Education Association Master Agreement

REPORTS TO: Building Principal
