    Description

    Dedham Public Schools is looking for a talented educator to fill an Elementary Special Education position for the 2026-2027 school year.

    Candidates must hold a Massachusetts Special Education License (Moderate and/or Severe). Dual certifications and prior classroom experience preferred.

    Responsibilities include:

    • plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences through the District curriculum
    • establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
    • use relevant technology to support instruction
    • observe and evaluate student performance and development
    • provide appropriate feedback on work
    • encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
    • maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development
    • prepare required reports on students and activities
    • manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
    • participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
    • communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
    • collaborate with Special Education and Regular Education support staff

    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree strongly preferred
    • Massachusetts Special Education Certification and Licensure
    • Experience with students with Language-based Learning disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities and Executive Functioning challenges
    • Specialized reading training preffered- (Wilson Reading /Orton-Gillingham)
    • Successful completion of QBS/SafetyCare training preferred.
    • Successful experience as a special educator including performing assessments using a variety of standardized protocols.
    • Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
    • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, parents/guardians, and others in the delivery of effective services.
    • Strong behavior management skills
