Special Education Teacher

Description:
We are seeking a Special Education Teacher with experience supporting students with severe emotional disabilities and Affective Needs to join an elementary school team in Broomfield, CO. This is an ASAP opportunity for a collaborative, compassionate educator who is committed to helping students successfully access the general education environment.

• Location: Broomfield, CO
• Position: Special Education Teacher Mod/Severe / Affective Needs
• Start: ASAP
• Schedule: Monday Friday, 7:15 AM 3:45 PM
• Hours: 40 hours/week
• Grade Levels: Elementary (K 5)
• Initial Caseload: Approximately 11 students

• Provide specialized instruction and behavioral/emotional support to students with significant needs and severe emotional disabilities.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support student goals.
• Promote inclusion and help students access the general education environment to the greatest extent possible.
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, special education staff, general education teachers, school psychologists, social workers, and administrators.
• Support students in developing the skills needed to successfully transition out of Affective Needs programming when appropriate.
• Contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive classroom and school culture.

You'll be supported by:

• 3 experienced Special Program Paraprofessionals who are deeply involved in the classroom.
• 2 experienced full-time administrators.
• Full-time school psychologist and school psychologist intern.
• Full-time Social Emotional Learning Specialist.
• 0.5 FTE social worker.
• Highly collaborative teachers and Special Education staff across grade levels.

• Experience working with students with severe emotional disabilities, Affective Needs, or significant behavioral/emotional challenges.
• Strong classroom management and behavior-support skills.
• Collaborative approach and willingness to involve paraprofessionals and the Special Education team in decision-making.
• Positive, patient, compassionate, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student success.
• Appropriate Colorado Special Education licensure/credentials.
