Job Title: Special Education Supervisor and Lange Principal
Reports To: Superintendent
District Description: The Oakwood City School District, established 1908, serves the community of Oakwood in Montgomery County, Ohio. The district is approximately 2.29 square miles and has five schools: The Julian & Marjorie Lange School, Harman School, Smith Elementary School, Oakwood Junior High School, and Oakwood High School. Renowned for its tradition of academic excellence, Oakwood is one of the top districts in Ohio. The Julian & Marjorie Lange School is a kindergarten only building that serves approximately 130 students.
Position Summary: Directs the provision of special education programs and intervention services. Develops, oversees, and manages day-to-day operations of special educational programs and Lange Kindergarten building.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively supervises and evaluates assigned personnel. Cultivates staff leadership skills.
Advocates for students. Supports access to inclusive educational opportunities for all students.
Facilitates student placements inalternative and out-of-district programs.
Guides staff in the use of assessment strategies to gauge student progress. Identifies performance gaps and trends.Helps prioritize core performance objectives. Helps staff identify
specific techniques,interventions, and aligned resources best suited for each student.
Manages and leads the kindergarten building staff.
Assigns teachers to classrooms and students to classes.
Evaluates the performance and effectiveness of programs and staff.
Establishes and maintains relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, and outside agencies.
Qualifications:
Establishes and maintains relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, and outside agencies.
Acts according to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0) credentialed evaluator status.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
