    Ability

    to

    communicate

    the

    community.

    Physical

    management

    is

    necessary

    Must

    be

    willing

    to

    participate

    in

    Nonviolent

    Crisis

    Intervention

    within

    30

    school

    days

    of

    hire

    date

    and

    update

    annually

    Physical

    ability

    to

    lift,

    push,

    and

    pull

    50

    pounds

    regularly.

    Students

    require

    support

    in

    areas

    of

    daily

    living

    such

    as

    toileting,

    self-care,

    feeding,

    and

    positioning

    in

    both

    regular

    classrooms

    and

    with

    adaptive

    equipment.

    Medical

    conditions

    necessitate

    paraprofessional

    support

    in

    the

    areas

    of

    feeding,

    mobility,

    or

    the

    need

    for

    other

    specialized

    care

    and

    safety-related

    issues.

    Responsibilities

    may

    include

    tube

    feeding,

    catheterization,

    oral

    suctioning,

    and

    tracheotomy

    suctioning.

    Increased

    supervision

    and

    intervention

    may

    be

    required

    due

    to

    seizure

    activity,

    allergies,

    or

    other

    medical

    conditions.

    A

    minimum

    of

    one

    (1)

    year

    of

    successful

    experience

    as

    a

    teacher

    paraprofessional

    in

    a

    special

    education

    classroom

    or

    day-care

    training

    program,

    or

    advanced

    training

    in

    a

    community

    college

    or

    degree-granting

    institution

    whose

    special

    education

    instruction

    and

    training

    program

    has

    been

    approved

    by

    the

    state,

    is

    preferred

    but

    not

    required

    for

    current

    ESP

    applicants.
