    Summary

    Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Paraprofessional provides instructional, behavioral, and supervision support to students. This position assists in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), supports classroom instruction, and helps ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment that promotes student growth and independence.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Support instructional activities under the guidance of licensed staff, including small-group and one-on-one reinforcement.
    • Assist with the implementation of students' IEP goals, accommodations, and behavior plans.
    • Promote student independence, problem-solving, and engagement in learning.
    • Provide supervision in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal.
    • Assist students with organization, transitions, communication, and accessing curriculum and materials.
    • Support student behavior using district-approved strategies and reinforce positive behavior.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress or concerns to teaching staff.
    • Assist with personal care needs if required for specific student assignments (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility support).
    • Transport students when assigned and only with prior Board authorization.
    • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound professional judgment.
    • Participate in required professional development and training.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
