Are you looking to join a unique and nurturing learning community committed to helping all students reach their potential? The Mukwonago Area School District, located approximately 25 miles southwest of Milwaukee, is currently seeking a part-time instructional assistant to be placed at Mukwonago High School - SOAR (Success, Opportunity, Accomplishment, Resilience) which is an off-site, small-scale setting for high school age students. The mission of SOAR is to empower students to meet future challenges and to develop social awareness, academic skills, civic responsibility, and personal growth so they will be active and informed participants in their post-secondary lives. We are looking for an influential staff member who will assist teachers with providing guided interventions to improve academic achievement for students. The successful candidate will serve students in small groups, as well as one-to-one assistance, based on collaboration with teachers to ensure continued student growth. The ability to maintain positive relationships with students who have faced challenges in a traditional school setting will be critical. Candidates must be able to monitor and communicate student progress with students, families, teachers, and administrators. Physical and Work Requirements: The candidate must be able to work in school, workplace, transportation, and community environments and legally operate school-owned vehicles while transporting young adults.
Desired Qualifications and Characteristics

Has a valid driver's license and is comfortable driving a school-owned vehicle with young adults as passengers.
Can confidently supervise and support a small group independently.

Understands the importance of balancing necessary support with opportunities for independence.

Maintains confidentiality and treats all young adults with dignity and respect.
Has previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, although relevant training and support may be provided.

This position may require standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, assisting with mobility, and providing physical or personal care support. The paraprofessional must be able to work in school, workplace, transportation, and community environments and legally operate school-owned vehicles while transporting young adults.
