Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Education and/or experience requirements are one of the following: OPTION ONE: High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of twelve (12) college units in such areas as child behavior, child growth, and development, education, or psychology. OPTION TWO: High School diploma or equivalent and Associate of Arts degree in Child Development, Psychology, or other related fields of study. OPTION THREE: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience working with children with special needs with satisfactory evaluations, or one year of relevant experience working with children with special needs, along with a letter of recommendation from the immediate supervisor, is required to support adequate work performance. Two (2) recent letters of reference attached to application. * To be considered all requirements must be attached when submitting application. In addition, verification of 6 hours of in-service training or three college units in Discrete Trial Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and/or instructional strategies for severely handicapped children must be completed prior to employment or within one year of employment.

Applicants must successfully complete each part of the examination process in order to be considered further. WRITTEN EXAMINATION: TBD - TIME & DATE MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. (PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR AN INVITATION TO TEST) PLEASE NOTE: WE MAY REQUIRE SUPERVISOR RECOMMENDATION FORMS FOR IN HOUSE EMPLOYEES. SCORING: Written examination will carry a weight of 100%. All examinations must be passed with 75% or better. An eligibility list will be in effect for 6 months or until less than 3 applicants remain on the list. An eligibility list will be in effect for 6 months or until less than 3 applicants remain on the list. If FIVE (5) applicants from the Lancaster School District demonstrates the ability to meet the job Qualifications, the position will be filled on a promotional basis.
