TITLE: Evaluator of Special Needs Students and Developer of Individualized Plans
JOB GOAL: To select, administer, score and interpret test in order to develop individualized plans for students with special needs.

REPORTS TO: Special Education & 504 Coordinators, Pre-K and Special Education Pre-K Directors
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess and maintain a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in special education and/or collaborative education.
Knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom practices, and professional development
Knowledge of current tests used for educational evaluation practices
Knowledge and experience administering tests and developing individualized plans for students based on information gained from the evaluations
Good public relations skills
Ability to understand the unique needs and learning characteristics of students
Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
Knowledge of and ability to use and facilitate the use of various forms of education technology and assist in instructional practices
Possess superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings.
Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups.
Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Uses technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, record keeping, reporting, scheduling, and other job responsibilities as required.
Implements curriculum and programming specific to the needs of all students.
Administers appropriate test to determine deficiencies and needs of students.
Develops and implements an individualized education plan (IEP) that meets the individual goals and abilities of students and is consistent with federal, state and local IDEA guidelines.
Participates in IEP, 504, and /or PST meetings as required.
Communicates with the Special Education Coordinator and staff involving all matters related to purchasing of supplies and equipment needed.
Maintains up-to-date data related to timelines of initial referrals and reevaluations.
Coordinates the referral, evaluation, and identification, and placement of PreK students under IDEA guidelines.
Assists schools with the transition of PreK students to Kindergarten.
Assist Elementary Curriculum Coordinator, Special Education Coordinator and Special Education Pre-K Director with Child Find for children 3-5 years old.
Assists families of children with disabilities of ages 3-5 to assess needed services
Help manage PreK special education/504 files
Knowledgeable of special education processes such as eligibility, IEP, FBA, BIP, Alabama Development Standards for PreK students, etc.
Actively participates and works with school personnel and other IEP team members in the selection of curriculum goals, specialized equipment, and other instructional materials, to provide the student with maximum learning opportunities.
Utilizes current testing materials, techniques, and provides data to assist case managers in completing paperwork to determine eligibility and/or educational needs.
Collaborates with the Special Education Coordinator and staff to select appropriate assessments.
Assists students with disabilities to gain their full potential.
Interprets and disseminates assessment results to parent and various stakeholders.
Follows rules, guidelines, and procedures of Section 504 and IDEA amendments.
Collaborates with the Operations Director, local school administration, and counselors in identifying maintenance concerns.
Collaborates with the Technology Director, local school administration, and counselors on matters related to technology; including purchasing, deployment, repairs, and all other items that may fall under the Technology Director's supervision.
Supervises students according to school system policies and best practices.
Supervises mentees and student teachers as assigned.
Communicates, through verbal or written/electronic correspondence, with parents/guardians about student evaluations, concerns.
Collaborates with teachers, local school administration and counselors to obtain data and observations to be utilized during the evaluations process.
Demonstrates high expectations for self and for students and creates an environment that has goals that are both rigorous and achievable.
Participates in the student and program evaluation process using state and locally approved evaluation tools.
Meets with various stakeholders to communicate and develop partnerships to benefit the school and community.

Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Principal and/or Special Education Coordinator.
Administers achievement, language, dyslexia, and other tests to special education students and referrals as needed in Grades Pre-K-12.
SALARY: Based on the St. Clair County School System Salary Schedule
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months or 10 months
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated according to board policy.
