    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, competent and effective Early Childhood specialeducation teacher or ancillary staff professional with experience in utilizing best practices supportingstudents with Early Childhood disabilities within their home or natural daycare environments. Thisprofessional will need to be a highly collaborative employee and effective communicator in using bothverbal and written skills.

    Position Type: Instructional/Special Education Teacher

    Location: Apollo Early Childhood Center

    Salary: Per HVEA Contract

    Reports To: Early Childhood Director & Student Support Services Associate

    Status: School Year 2026-27

    Start Date: As soon as possible

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must hold ONE of the following:

    a. A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement in AutismSpectrum Disorder (SV), Cognitive Impairments (SA), Emotional Impairments (SE),Learning Disabilities (SM), OR Physical or Other Health Impairment (SC)

    AND

    Early Childhood Education PK-K (ZA)

    b. A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Early Childhood General and SpecialEducation Birth-K (ZN)

    c. A valid Michigan License in a Special Education related field.

    1. Must meet the Highly Qualified standard under the ESSA OR be recommended for a certificate orendorsement, constituting full approval in a special education area by an institution of highereducation signifying verification of completion of a teacher program, as approved by the StateBoard of Education.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • To effectively provide instruction to students with an Individualized Family Service Plan withintheir natural environment
    • To effectively communicate in writing and verbally with students, staff and families.
    • To progress monitor students growth on IFSP goals and report data to families
    • To upload progress notes and service logs into Google Drive for HVS administration to reviewmonthly.
    • To be engaged while attending building and department meetings.
    • To be a learner of your content and other school related topics to benefit students.
    • To work a balanced work-year calendar (different from district-wide yearly calendar)
    • Must sign Consent to BIll for Medicaid and complete Medicaid documents for billing daily. All Medicaid documents must be uploaded to MiStar monthly.
    • Have reliable transportation to travel to multiple sites away from the school per day
    • Other duties assigned by the special education director or the building principal

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree or higher required

    LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
