PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Dyslexia Interventionist works with administrators, classroom teachers, campus support staff and Central Offices to plan and implement quality multisensory Dyslexia Instruction for students identified with Dyslexia and/or related disorders in accordance to state requirements as outlined in the Dyslexia Handbook. The Dyslexia Interventionist plans and implements Dyslexia Instruction through the district adopted program and supports the ARD committee in developing individualized IEPs with targeted Goals specific to the needs of the student

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate (Not Probationary)
• Special Education Certification (will be required to obtain if not currently held)
• Professional All Level Reading Specialist Certification (preferred)
• Bilingual / ESL Certificate / Endorsement (preferred)

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years teaching experience
• Experience working with students with reading difficulties
• Experience in teaching Basic Reading Skills (preferred)
• Familiarity with the Texas Dyslexia Handbook
• Knowledge of state and district standards
• Training in Dyslexia / Reading Programs and Reading Initiatives (preferred)
