Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership & Staff Support
Coordinate and deliver targeted professional development and ongoing coaching for special education teachers and paraprofessionals.
Conduct regular classroom observations in special education settings, monitoring instructional practices and classroom management to provide actionable feedback.
Assist school leadership with personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal recommendations.
Oversee and monitor special education staff absences to ensure appropriate classroom coverage and continuity of services.
Conduct comprehensive performance evaluations and facilitate follow-up conferences for all licensed and non-certified personnel operating within special education environments.
Compliance, Operations & Scheduling
Ensure strict compliance with all federal and state special education laws, regulations, and guidelines, including IDEA.
Oversee the implementation of testing accommodations and ensure accurate completion of all state and local assessments for special education students.
Collaborate on developing and inputting student schedules into PowerSchool prior to the first day of school, and within five days of new student enrollment for students at Camelot and specialized classroom settings.
Provide ongoing oversight and evaluation of special education programs and services, using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and improve program outcomes.
Collaboration & Communication
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, counselors, support staff, and families to develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Establish and maintain clear, open lines of communication with parents, students, and staff through regular updates and scheduled conferences.
Assist in resolving school-based concerns, challenges, or disputes regarding special education services and student programming.
Serve as an expert resource and problem-solving partner to school staff regarding special education practices and inclusive strategies.
Administrative & School-Wide Duties
Assist administration with overall student supervision responsibilities.
Serve as a liaison and key stakeholder on school and district committees as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Required Meetings
Weekly: Curriculum team meetings.
Weekly: LHS Special Education Department Meeting
Monthly: Department chair meetings.
As Needed: Meetings with LHS administration and/or guidance staff.
