Primary Purpose: The Special Education Campus Specialist primary role is to support case managers, provide specialized instructional coaching, student support, data analysis and serve as a resource to campus staff regarding special education related issues on their assigned campus(es). Responsibilities also include ensuring that the special education services are provided for students with disabilities in compliance with district, state and federal requirements. The ideal candidate provides leadership in the implementation of high-quality instructional practices, providing professional development, and problem solving in a fast-paced environment. Ultimately, the Special Education Campus Specialist possesses instructionally sound processes, a honed coaching ability, and strong interpersonal skills. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master's degree or higher in specific content or the field of Special Education, preferred Texas teaching certification, content/grade-level/program appropriate to assignment Special Knowledge/Skills: Deep knowledge and experience with special education, federal, state, and local guidelines Knowledge and expertise in design processes such as high-quality units, assessments, and lessons as well as understand the development process of learning Knowledge of best practices and learning principles Expertise in district instructional resources, pedagogical methods, and evidence-based best practices Skill in supporting special education students instructional programs, teaching effectiveness, and managing behaviors Skill in guiding, overseeing, leading, and correcting work performed by assigned personnel and assisting in the evaluation process of assigned personnel Skill in presenting oral and written information in a comprehensive and organized manner to diverse audiences and facilitating groups on a large scale Skill in diagnosing and resolving instructional challenges Skill in technology, including Windows, Chrome, iOS devices, G-Suite, and Microsoft Office Skill in exhibiting strong leadership and collaboration skills Skill in effective communication and interpersonal skills Skill in organizing/interpreting/analyzing data and applying concepts to resolve problems and develop solutions Ability to organize, support, and coordinate campus staff members Ability to conduct classroom walk-throughs across all special education settings Ability to demonstrate modeling evidence-based instructional practices in classrooms Ability to demonstrate creating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating professional development Ability to demonstrate positive impacted systematic change within the campus Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate multiple projects to meet specific deadlines Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information Reports to: Campus Administrator School/Department: Assigned Campus and level Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Schedule Wage/hour status: Exempt Work Days: 187 plus Stipend if applicable Created/revised: July 2024 HUMBLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description Special Education Campus Specialist Page 2 of 4

Master teacher who has embedded appropriate evidence-based, differentiated instructional practices that have resulted in high levels of student progress Master teacher who has demonstrated successful classroom management that facilitates a high level of student engagement Teacher leader who has demonstrated high efficacy as evidenced by student achievement and administrative observations by campus and district personnel Prior experience providing oversight support and/or overseeing a team helpful Major Responsibilities and Duties: Special Education Campus Specialist Role
Provide instructional leadership, including modeling strategies, assisting with small group instruction, observation, and/or co-teaching.
Support the implementation of the district vision at the campus level.
Attend district and campus professional learning/meetings to share information with teachers and campus leaders and implement strategies and processes.
Report to the Educational Support Services Division in the summer to participate in professional learning, targeting coaching strategies, instructional design processes, assessment design, and planning and lesson design.
Collaborate with district and campus leadership to determine their professional and instructional goals.
Facilitate MDRs for assigned campuses.
Complete IEP Amendments for assigned campuses. Instructional Coaching Role
Provide Instructional Support to teachers in order to impact student achievement: modeling, observing, and/or team teaching.
Monitor the use of district curriculum resources.
Monitor student performance by facilitating campus data meetings.
Assist in crisis interventions as a member of the campus crisis team.
Complete Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification annually.
Monitor the disciplinary placements of special education students.
Monitor staff data collection and meets with campus special education staff regarding data analysis.
Provide oversight to changes in placement with support from ESS Campus Coordinator.
Collaborate with counseling and administration to develop master schedule.
Monitor IEP implementation and compliance for special education students.

Provide classroom support to ensure alignment between instructional practices/supports and the student IEP.
Provide embedded campus professional learning aligned to campus goals and teachers needs.
Seek out innovative research-based instructional ideas for academic and behavioral support to share with campus coordinators and other SCS.
Work in conjunction with the building principal to support, implement, and monitor district vision and initiatives at the campus level.
Serve as a mentor for a new classroom teachers.
Participate in the development, evaluation, revision, and implementation of district curriculum and assessment as needed.
Promote a smooth instructional transition from Grade 5 to 6 and Grade 8 to 9.
Share and support professional learning provided at the district with campus personnel. Leadership in Professional Learning, Campus-based and District-level
Partner with district and campus leadership to support the development of the campus improvement plan that focuses on student learning.
Provide responsive, high-quality professional learning aligned to the district/campus goals, focusing on teacher and student needs.
Use data from the campus improvement plan to inform decisions about campus professional learning.
Seek opportunities to learn about or expand knowledge of innovative and research-based practices that can be implemented in the classroom, and share ideas among teachers, other Instructional Coaches, and district leaders.
Work in conjunction with the Building Principal and/or District Administration to implement, adapt, and monitor all district-initiated instructional initiatives. Leadership in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Lead in the implementation of district curriculum at the campus level.
Build teacher capacity in high quality instructional processes that support student learning, including quality design processes around lessons, units, and assessments.
Participate in the development, evaluation, revision and implementation of district curriculum as needed.
