Special Education Assistant

The Fox Point-Bayside School District is currently seeking a Special Education Assistant at Stormonth Elementary School. Special Education Assistants provide academic support to students mostly in general education settings. This position may include student supervision in the cafeteria or on the playground. Applicants should be collaborative individuals who are able to take direction, are reliable in attendance and performance, are self-motivated, flexible, and enjoy working with students. The position will involve some lifting and bathroom changing of students with physical needs.

This position will work on the days students are in session plus a few additional training days for a total of 180 days. This position is Monday-Friday from 7:30-3:30 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day for a total of 37.5 hours per week. A comprehensive benefit package is available.

Qualifications

• Special Education program aide license required upon hire (district will reimburse the cost of the license if not already licensed)
• Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (district will provide this training if not currently certified
• High school diploma required
• Background working with children in a school setting preferred
• Experience working with children with Autism preferred
