Special Education Aid

Iola-Scandinavia School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused Educational Assistant to join the team at Iola-Scandinavia Elementary School.

This position works closely with students and staff to support a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting students with disabilities and assisting special education staff with daily student needs
• Providing classroom support to teachers and students
• Supervising students during recess/playground duty and other school activities
• Assisting with student routines, transitions, and learning activities
• Supporting the implementation of student programs and services as directed by school staff
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the district

Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Position Status: Part-time, school-year position (approximately September-June)

The ideal candidate will be patient, dependable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with students, teachers, special education staff, and other members of the school team. Experience working with children or students with disabilities is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

• Possesses or obtains within the first 30 days of employment a valid Special Education Aide License through the Department of Public Instruction
• Ability to meet Department of Public Education Instruction criteria for a highly-qualified paraprofessional is desired
