The St. Francis Public School District has a vacancy for a full-time licensed Special Education Assistant to support students with IEPs at the St. Francis Public High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
Candidates must be skilled at forming positive relationships and meeting the needs of a variety of students with IEPs. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, providing behavior support, assisting with academic instruction, collecting data, and assistance with self-care and other activities of daily living - all under the guidance of a licensed special education teacher. Strong candidates will be energetic, possess a positive attitude, and willing to learn and try new strategies and approaches to address academic and behavioral needs of the students. Candidates must be willing to work as part of a team to create a safe, welcoming learning environment for all students. Experience with elementary and middle school students are preferred, as well as, the ability to connect with students who may be non-verbal or struggle with emotional regulation. Knowledge of positive behavior supports and experience with effective implementation is preferred.
Qualifed candidates must hold a high school diploma and have completed two years of post-secondary education (48 credits) or an Associate's Degree, or have met a rigourous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness) by taking and passing one of the alternative hiring requirement options. Candidates must have current certification in non-violent crisis intervention or be willing and able to obtain training and certification.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Health, dental and vision insurance benefits are available with this position.
