Position Information

Job Title Special Assistant to Athletics Summary

Taking direction from the Vice President of Athletics, this part-time position plays an important part in driving the department's operational goals, with a primary focus on leading end-to-end event planning and execution for the Department of Athletics. In addition to orchestrating high- impact athletic and department events, this position advances key revenue-generation initiatives through fundraising and sponsorship development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the point person for the Blue and Gold Gala, to be held in April.
  • Works in conjunction with the VP of Athletics, athletics staff, alumni relations, and the Blue Gold Club to supports the efforts of the VP of Athletics in fundraising.
  • Supports the efforts of the VP in identifying and securing new sponsors for the

Department of Athletics.

  • Assist in planning, developing, implementing key fundraising opportunities and events.
  • Analyze program funding ideas, post-event challenges/successes and budget efficiency.
  • Represent the Athletic Department and John Carroll at University sponsored events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five years or more work experience related to fundraising and event management.
  • The ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll's mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management certification.
  • Sales experience.
  • Fundraising experience in Higher Education.

Normal Work Location, Hours and Conditions

This position works in-person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio. University core business hours are generally 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. This position will require occasional work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations.

Hours Part Time FLSA Non-Exempt (Hourly) Compensation & Benefits

Starting pay rate is $25.00/hour.
