The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW), CHECW"s work focuses on social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial determinants, and addresses both upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well being of New Yorkers. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO Office) aims to bridge NYCs healthcare systems with the health department to expand and strengthen bidirectional communication and engagement around the emerging health needs and risks of NYC communities. These capabilities are achieved by coordinating and streamlining agency-wide provider communications, using content tailoring approaches by leveraging a health provider contact information database, and leverage community connections to increase agency reach to providers. Specifically, the CMO Office focuses on keeping the health providers abreast of healthcare affordability opportunities for all New Yorkers and works to coordinate front-line health worker engagement activities to connect New Yorkers to benefits and resources that supplement healthcare affordability obstacles. The CMO Office works closely with the Commissioners Office and Divisional leadership to strategically plan and implement agency-wide e forts and response to public health priorities and emergencies. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer seeks to hire a Special Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications
To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:
A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
A masters degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a masters degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.
