Spanish Language Interpreter I (PRN)

Several times each month interprets English and Spanish for Spanish speaking women who have a gynecology visit and a mammogram. Interprets for Spanish speaking patients in various hospital departments with simple instruction.

Availability Needed: Monday and Thursday, Day Shift

 

 General Summary of Position
Several times each month interprets English and Spanish for Spanish speaking women who have a gynecology visit and a mammogram. Assists patients with registration preparation for examination and escorts patients between departments. Provides directions and simple instructions in customer service related encounters.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Interprets for Spanish speaking patients in various hospital departments with simple instruction.
• Assists with paperwork forms and demographic information.
• Escorts patients between departments.
• Assists with and collects program consent form. Places forms in patient chart.
• Communicates with patients and staff for patient appointment tardiness and no show.
• Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
• Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

• High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

• Prior work experience not required

Licenses and Certifications

• Qualified Bilingual Staff Level 1 (or other similar certification) required within 1 Year required and
• No special registration or licensure required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Speak and read fluently in English and Spanish required.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

This position has a hiring range of : USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
