Spanish High School Equivalency Adjunct Instructor Salary $22.00 - $31.00 Hourly Location Flat Rock, NC Job Type Part-time Faculty Job Number 26-931 Division Instruction Opening Date 04/08/2026 Description Benefits Description Responsible for delivering Spanish high school equivalency (HSE) instruction in both classroom and online settings. Instructional areas include reading, writing, mathematics, and critical thinking, with an emphasis on literacy strategies for science and social studies. Examples of Duties Develop/implement curriculum frameworks and lesson plans aligned with assigned subject areas Deliver instruction, in Spanish, in structured classrooms/open study lab settings, including tutoring Engage students using differentiated, contextualized, and multisensory instructional strategies aligned with a planned scope/sequence and educational plan Manage classroom and/or virtual learning environments effectively to support student success Administer formal/informal assessments to evaluate student learning and content mastery Monitor/document student progress; provide guidance and maintain follow up communications Maintain accurate student attendance records in accordance with departmental policies Participate in professional development activities as required Adhere to and support all department policies and procedures Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable state and federal agencies Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Foster a positive, supportive, challenging, and engaging learning environment for all students Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational setting Support continuous improvement initiatives and instructional effectiveness Promote and adhere to established safety standards Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in K-12, Adult Education, Special Education, High School Equivalency content area, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Spanish fluency required. Experience: Demonstrated relevant professional experience in a workplace or instructional setting required Ability to teach reading comprehension, writing (including essay development), and mathematics through intermediate algebra and geometry Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching or equivalent experience preferred Skills and the Know-How Knowledge of best practices in adult education Strong professional integrity with sound judgment and decision-making skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently Proficiency in using instructional technology to enhance learning Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team Additional Information Physical Demands The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
