    Description

Amazon"s Worldwide Operations is seeking a Physical Space Program Manager to lead global space planning initiatives for Worldwide Operations and business partners. You"ll partner with executive assistants, business leaders, and Amazon Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) to develop strategies for optimizing workspace usage, planning for growth, and enhancing the employee experience.

This is a high-visibility role that blends strategic planning with hands-on execution - ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys turning ambiguity into structured programs.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Partner with business leaders and GREF to define space requirements and represent Worldwide Operations in company-wide space initiatives and site consolidation efforts
    • Develop and implement forward-thinking strategies for space utilization and growth planning across Worldwide Operations
    • Collaborate with Finance partners to improve headcount forecasting and build analytics that drive space decisions
    • Manage strategic and tactical space planning initiatives from conception through implementation, including move coordination and MAC (Move/Add/Change) processes
    • Define requirements for space management tools and dashboards; drive continuous process improvement in planning workflows
    • Serve as the primary liaison between Worldwide Operations and GREF, ensuring alignment on priorities and timelines
    • Negotiate optimal capacity plans that balance employee experience, cost-effectiveness, and business growth
    • Educate partners on space-related tools and processes; identify training gaps and develop supporting materials
    • Navigate competing priorities across business teams to drive alignment on space decisions and resolve conflicts

    A day in the life

Expect a dynamic mix of strategic planning and hands-on problem-solving. You"ll manage multiple concurrent projects at different stages - from early-stage growth modeling to active move execution.

Your days include operational reviews, space planning sessions discussing growth projections, and data analysis reviews. You"ll also analyze space utilization reports, update capacity models in tools like Smartsheet or Excel, maintain project trackers, manage the program for on-time delivery of deliverables, and respond to urgent space requests.

You"ll balance long-term strategic initiatives (developing workspace standards, planning major moves) with immediate operational needs (seating assignments, capacity constraints for fast-growing teams). The role requires comfort with frequent context-switching and making data-driven decisions that consider both business needs and employee experience.

    About the team

You"ll join the Worldwide Operations Space Program Management team, a small, high-impact group responsible for space planning across Worldwide Operations and business partners. Additional responsibilities include move coordination and data support for all of Worldwide Operations space planning. This role is open to both internal and external candidates.

    What makes this role unique:

    • Global scope - you"ll influence workspace strategy across multiple geographies
    • High pace - WW Ops teams grow quickly, and space needs evolve just as fast
    • Direct impact - your work directly affects thousands of employees" daily work environment

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
