Job Title: Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Salary: $28 - $31/hr (DOE)

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the culinary leadership team at a premier camp and retreat center in Santa Rosa, CA. This is a high-volume, hands-on leadership role overseeing food production for 300–600+ guests attending multi-day retreats, conferences, youth camps, and corporate events. The property serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner for groups staying 2–5 nights, while also executing weddings, banquets, and special events throughout the year.


The ideal candidate has experience leading large-scale food production, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about developing teams while delivering exceptional quality and consistency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily kitchen operations serving 300–600+ guests for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Oversee food production for multi-day retreats, conferences, camps, and group events.
  • Partner with the Executive Chef to execute weddings, banquets, and special catered events.
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and execution across all meal services.
  • Manage kitchen labor scheduling to meet operational demands and budget goals.
  • Train, coach, and develop culinary team members while fostering a positive team culture.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Monitor food costs, labor costs, inventory, purchasing, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain standardized recipes and production procedures for consistency and cost control.
  • Collaborate with leadership to continuously improve guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
