Sonographer (Maternal Fetal Medicine / Perinatal)
Location: Albany, New York
Employment Type: 3 Months Contract
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Work Setting: Onsite
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer performs specialized diagnostic ultrasound examinations for high-risk obstetrical patients. This role is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, monitoring patient safety during examinations, documenting findings accurately, and collaborating with physicians and the Maternal Fetal Medicine team to support optimal maternal and fetal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for Maternal Fetal Medicine patients.
Perform specialized sonographic imaging for high-risk pregnancies.
Record patient test results and report findings appropriately.
Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout examinations.
Notify physicians of abnormalities or significant changes in patient condition.
Position patients appropriately for optimal image acquisition.
Select accurate anatomical and technical imaging parameters.
Produce high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
Submit images and documentation promptly to PACS.
Verify image quality, patient demographics, and exam documentation.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Maintain ultrasound equipment and verify proper functionality.
Report equipment deficiencies or malfunctions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe imaging department.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of Sonographer experience.
Experience performing Obstetric (OB) Ultrasound examinations.
Experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM).
Experience performing ultrasound examinations for high-risk pregnancies.
Experience using Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Experience producing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
Knowledge of PACS workflow.
Excellent patient care and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced Maternal Fetal Medicine environment.
Preferred Qualifications
ARDMS Certification (OB/GYN preferred).
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
Maternal Fetal Medicine experience.
Perinatal Sonography experience.
High-risk Obstetrics experience.
Epic EHR experience.
PACS experience.
Hospital-based Women's Imaging experience.
