Job Description We're looking for a Solution Architect who is excited to guide the technical direction of key product platforms across K12. Whether you're already working as a Solution Architect or you've been a senior engineer or engineering lead making high-level design decisions, this role gives you the opportunity to influence architecture at scale and collaborate across the organization. You'll partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to design secure, scalable, maintainable solutions that support our long term technology strategy. Drive Architecture Across Platforms
Contribute to the overall K12 architecture vision and strategy
Participate in the Architecture Council-present designs, review proposals, and help shape shared standards
Collaborate with peers across platforms to evaluate and recommend architectural approaches
Own the technical direction for your platform
Work with business stakeholders to understand functional needs, constraints, and objectives
Define an architectural vision that prioritizes security, performance, reliability, DevOps, monitoring, and long‑term maintainability
Identify, prioritize, and address technical debt
Support estimation, planning, and business‑case evaluation for major initiatives
Support and guide engineering teams
Partner with Product, UX, and engineering to break large initiatives into thoughtfully sequenced roadmaps
Provide ongoing architectural guidance during development to keep implementation aligned with strategy
Document architecture decisions, patterns, and strategy
Ensure engineering teams understand how your platform integrates with the larger K12 ecosystem
Encourage innovation through prototypes and exploration of new technologies
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position initially has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Certificates and Licenses: None required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience
8+ years of software engineering experience, including influence over multi‑system architecture
3+ years building solutions on AWS
Hands-on experience with multiple coding languages, UI frameworks and Database technologies
Familiarity with modern web technologies and open‑source frameworks
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to analyze complex trade‑offs
Experience with large-scale, high‑availability systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead through influence
Understanding of application, integration, SOA, and distributed architecture patterns
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
Background check clearance and up to 5% travel
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience building SaaS products
Experience addressing cross‑browser challenges

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
We anticipate the salary range to be $81,045.75- $156,000.00. An individual's compensation can vary based on several factors which include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market condition
