    Description

    Key Responsibilities

    Solution Architecture

    • Design end-to-end architecture for enterprise applications, cloud platforms, integrations, and infrastructure.
    • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
    • Develop architecture diagrams, technical standards, implementation roadmaps, and solution documentation.
    • Define application, API, integration, and microservices architecture standards.
    • Guide engineering teams to ensure solutions are implemented according to architectural designs.

    Enterprise & Cloud Strategy

    • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, governance, and technology roadmaps.
    • Design cloud-native and hybrid solutions utilizing AWS and Azure technologies.
    • Define strategies for application modernization, cloud adoption, automation, and DevOps.
    • Ensure solutions support high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, and operational efficiency.

    Governance & Security

    • Establish architecture governance and ensure compliance with County policies and security standards.
    • Evaluate architectural risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
    • Promote best practices for application security, identity management, system integration, and data protection.

    Technical Leadership

    • Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to software engineers and technical teams.
    • Lead architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and development teams to deliver enterprise solutions.
    • Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve County operations.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Partner with executive leadership, IT Directors, project managers, and business stakeholders to align technology with business objectives.
    • Present architecture strategies, technical recommendations, and modernization initiatives to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Build relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners.

    Required Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 6+ years of IT experience, including 2+ years in a Solution Architect, Technical Lead, or similar architecture-focused role.
    • Experience designing enterprise applications, cloud solutions, integrations, and distributed systems.
    • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, cloud computing, APIs, security, and modern application design.
