Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operates a solid waste collection vehicle following an established route utilizing route management software• Enters and exits vehicle throughout route to push/pull containers, operate hydraulic mechanisms used in collection of debris and pick up small items as needed• Deposits solid waste items at designated location (landfill, Brazos River Authority, etc.)• Operates tablet software designed for assigned route• Assists neighboring route(s) when needed• Communicates with other drivers, office staff and supervisor to report problems in the field• Completes daily vehicle maintenance checklist on routing software tablet and documents faulty/inoperable items• Tops-off fuel tank(s) daily; washes, cleans and maintains interior/exterior of collection vehicle, to include packer bodies, collection mechanisms, storage areas, etc.• Performs minor maintenance on trucks to include greasing of systems, light bulbs, mud flaps, etc.• Ensures all safety equipment is operational (flashing caution lights, camera, etc.)• Adheres to defensive driving rules, obeys traffic laws and follow city policies and safety guidelines• Performs other duties /assumes responsibility for other routes and trucks as assigned. Summary:Solid Waste Driver, under the general supervision of the Foreman, drives a collection truck on a designated route, manually collecting and disposing of waste.
