Soldering Technician
Job Description
The Soldering Technician builds and tests electromechanical products by assembling mechanical components, wiring systems, controls, and related hardware. This role involves interpreting assembly documentation, installing and routing wire harnesses, performing functional testing, troubleshooting assembly issues, and verifying product performance. You will work at speed and scale while maintaining high quality to support a fast-paced assembly line in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
+ Assemble mechanical and electromechanical components, subassemblies, and finished products to exact specifications.
+ Interpret and follow detailed assembly documentation, build sheets, and production checklists to complete work accurately and efficiently.
+ Install, route, and secure wire harnesses, electrical wiring, and related hardware in accordance with engineering and quality standards.
+ Perform wire, terminal, and PCB soldering using lead-free soldering techniques for high-reliability assemblies.
+ Use crimping tools and hand tools to prepare, terminate, and connect wires and harnesses.
+ Conduct functional testing of assembled products to verify proper performance and operation.
+ Troubleshoot assembly issues, identify root causes, and make necessary corrections to ensure product quality.
+ Inspect solder joints, wiring, and assemblies to ensure precision, repeatability, and defect-free workmanship.
+ Maintain high-quality standards while working in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume production environment.
+ Work independently from task lists and checklists to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
+ Meet production expectations by assembling components at the required speed, scale, and quality to support the assembly line.
+ Follow all safety, cleanliness, and organizational practices within a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
+ Demonstrate strong work ethic, accountability, timeliness, and reliability, including consistent on-time attendance.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in mechanical assembly of mechanical and electromechanical components, subassemblies, and finished products.
+ Experience with wire harness assembly and electrical wire harness fabrication.
+ Basic lead-free soldering experience for wire, terminal, and PCB connections.
+ Skill in wire and terminal soldering, including harnesses and circuit boards (PCB soldering).
+ Experience with high-temperature, lead-free soldering for high-reliability assemblies.
+ Ability to use crimping tools effectively for wire and terminal connections.
+ Familiarity with IPC standards and practices (IPC certification preferred).
+ Experience in electronics assembly or wire harness production.
+ Ability to work independently from detailed build sheets, production checklists, and task lists.
+ Strong focus on precision, repeatability, and producing defect-free solder joints.
+ Demonstrated strong work ethic, accountability, and coachability.
+ Consistent timeliness and reliability, with no tolerance for repeated tardiness or no-shows.
+ Ability to maintain high-quality standards while working in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ IPC certification (preferred but not required).
+ Previous experience in electronics assembly or wire harness production.
+ Experience working with pinball machines is a plus but not required.
+ Comfort using a variety of hand tools in a manufacturing environment.
+ Ability to follow checklist-driven workflows and detailed documentation.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
+ Ability to stand for most of the shift and perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, organized, and fully climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will work in a high-mix, low-volume production environment where tasks vary daily and require flexibility and attention to detail. The position requires standing for most of the shift and working independently from task lists, build sheets, and production checklists. The standard schedule is a four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., typically with days off from Friday through Sunday. The workday includes two 15-minute breaks and a lunch break. Overtime, based on production needs, may involve working on Fridays during normal workday hours. The facility emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and consistent adherence to quality and production standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
